Pollinator and Bird Sanctuary

Problem
Cynthia reached out to us with a vision to transform her backyard into a vibrant wildlife sanctuary. While she hoped to attract more birds and pollinators, her existing landscape faced several obstacles. The wildflower beds lacked the variety and vertical interest needed to truly flourish, and a separate area of misplaced raised garden beds struggled with a lack of functional flow. She dreamed of a beautiful, peaceful retreat—a place where she could enjoy the sunset while surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.
Solution
We redesigned this outdoor space to blend a functional wildlife habitat with a serene personal retreat. By strategically relocating the shed and garden boxes, we maximized the footprint for the client’s vegetable garden. The new hardscape features a rustic flagstone patio where creeping thyme grows naturally between the stones. A custom water feature, repurposed from the client’s own Mexican pot, serves as a focal point for bird activity while providing a soothing ambient sound. To complete the transformation, we introduced vertical interest and a wider variety of species to the wildflower beds, ensuring the sanctuary thrives as a haven for pollinators and birds alike.

You will be happy with work from Mountain West Landscaping! I certainly am. They incorporated my ideas with theirs and with their expertise and knowledge, the backyard is my dream garden. They did extra and came in under budget. While that may not always happen, the quality of their work is super!
