Sunset View Backyard Retreat

Problem
Kari sought to transform her backyard into a functional outdoor living space for entertaining and watching the sunset, but several environmental factors stood in the way. The existing yard consisted of a steep, sloping lawn that was entirely unusable for level seating or social gatherings. Compounding this issue, the lower portion of the property suffered from constant saturation, while the overall landscape required high-maintenance mowing that the client wished to eliminate.
Solution
To solve Kari’s drainage and slope challenges, we completely re-engineered the property’s foundation to create a stable, multi-functional retreat. We utilized natural boulder retaining walls to level the terrain, carving out a spacious paver patio that serves as the perfect stage for sunset views. By swapping out the saturated lawn for fire-wise, pollinator-friendly plants and adding a custom stone fireplace, we delivered a high-end, low-maintenance outdoor living room.
