Our Story
Mountain West Landscapes LLC is owned and operated by Megan Hefner and David Goodlin. They are a husband and wife landscape team that has been involved in the green industry for over 20 years.
Megan has a degree in Landscape Development and Ornamental Horticulture and is a Certified Horticulturalist. She grew up in Boise and went to Boise High School. After graduation she moved to Vermont to pursue her passion for ski racing and organic gardening. She spent the majority of her 20’s and 30’s working for various golf courses and landscape companies in the summer while skiing and working in the hospitality industry in the winter months. She earned her degree from Vermont Technical College in 2006.
David grew up in the small western Pennsylvania town of Scottdale. He attended Penn State University after graduating from Southmoreland High School. Realizing that he was interested in entrepreneurialism rather than university life, he moved to Naples, Florida to pursue a career in hospitality. Over the next decade he worked for luxury hospitality companies such as The Ritz-Carlton and Noble House Hotels & Resorts. In 2010 David took the position of general manager at The Cliff House Restaurant at Stowe Mountain Resort and moved to Stowe Vermont.
The stage was set and alas!!…….they were finally in the same state at the same time and this amazing partnership came to life. David was Megan’s boss at the restaurant and Megan was David’s boss during the summer where they worked for an organic landscape company in the Stowe area. They developed their knowledge of earth-wise gardening practices, installation, landscape design, project management and of course maintenance. In 2015 they moved from Vermont to Teton Valley, Idaho, where they enjoyed everything the Teton Mountains had to offer. In 2020 when the pandemic hit, they decided to move to Boise to be closer to Megan’s family. They saw the opportunity to put their skill sets together and to go into business for themselves. Mountain West Landscapes LLC was born in the spring of 2022 and Megan and David quickly realized that they were indeed on the right path. Their love and knowledge for all things horticulture and their passion for hospitality provide a business model that benefits their clients and set Mountain West Landscapes aside from other landscape companies.
Mountain West Landscapes’ mission is simple; be responsible caretakers of this amazing planet.

The Dogs of Mountain West Landscapes
Pearl joined our family in late September of 2022. Goose followed soon after in January of 2023. Both are rescue dogs. Pearl came from a lovely family in Nampa, ID. Goose came from the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation in Acton, CA. We are as passionate about rescuing animals as we are preserving natural resources. There is a good chance you will see these two on the jobsite or in one of our trucks when the temperature permits.
